Top Disney Snacks to Try at the Theme Parks
No trip to Disney World is complete without enjoying a snack or two. I'm not a rides fanatic like my oldest daughter, or a character junkie. But food is near and dear to my heart, and some of my favorite experiences and memories have come from a quick snack that I enjoyed while trekking through the parks.
On a recent trip to Magic Kingdom, most of my group (12 out of 14 people) jumped on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. A good friend and I skipped it and decided to grab a Dole Whip. Easily the best treat in Walt Disney World, or at least the Magic Kingdom, in my opinion! We enjoyed it before meeting up with the group for the Enchanted Tiki Room (one of my favorite places to relax on a hot day in the park) next door.
Later on in the trip, we had a similar experience in EPCOT when we skipped Remy's Ratatouille. My friend and I walked over to Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie for a croissant. We had a great time, struck up a conversation while on line and the croissant wasn't too bad either. It made me realize that snacks are a huge part of the Disney experience, and at least for me, the memories I take home!
My favorite snacks:
Is a turkey leg considered a snack? If you're doing low carb, this isn't a bad option and they're available in bunch of places in EPCOT and Magic Kingdom. Try Liberty Square Market or Prince Eric's Village Market in Magic Kingdom. If you're looking for a late night treat, Sleepy Hollow serves turkey legs from 7 to ll pm and during extended evening hours. Epcot sells them at the Fife and Drum Tavern. They even sell them at the Smokehouse at the House of Blues in Disney Springs!
Another must-try snack is the famous Mickey-shaped pretzel. This warm, soft pretzel is not only a tasty treat but a cost-effective way to keep hunger at bay while you're cruisng Magic Kingdom or Epcot. Served at many quick service spots, there are more gourmet varieties available throughout the park.
Popcorn enthusiasts will find unique flavors of popcorn that are exclusive to Disney World theme parks. From savory options like cheddar or spicy flavors to the sweet options offered during special events, the popcorn experience at Disney is far from ordinary. The main popcorn stands located near Cinderella Castle and in each themed land provide a perfect opportunity to savor these delightful snacks while enjoying parades or fireworks shows.
Although there are lots of sweet treats, like Churros, nutella waffles and cookies galore, my favorite is the good old fashioned Mickey bar. You can see my youngest enjoying her first one at the top of this page, and although we've purchased them many times through the years now that they're available at supermarkets, there seems to be a little special magic sprinkled on the ones available in the park!
Favorite Lunch and Dinner Spots in the Theme Parks
When visiting Disney World Theme Parks, selecting the perfect place for lunch or dinner can significantly enhance your overall experience. One of the reasons I like to work with a professional travel agent who specializes in Disney is because there are so many great choices, and fitting the right dining spot into your busy plans can make or break an outing! Here are a few of my favorites:
For those seeking character dining experiences, Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort is probably the most well known choice. Guests can enjoy a buffet featuring classic American cuisine while meeting iconic characters such as Mickey Mouse and friends. This vibrant setting is perfect for families looking to combine a delightful meal with memorable photo opportunities. Remember, you don't have to stay at the resort to visit and enjoy dinner! But my favorite character dining experience would have to be The Garden Grill in EPCOT. You'll meet Chip, Dale and Mickey in this rotating dining room that overlooks Living with the Land. The food is exceptional, served family style and is much more low key than many of the other dining experiences. So for kids with sensory issue, this would be a fantastic choice.
If guests prefer a more formal dining experience while visiting Magic Kingdom, Be Our Guest Restaurant is hard to miss. Inspired by “Beauty and the Beast's” French-inspired dishes, there is a fairly large selection of foods in the the elegantly themed dining rooms, including the West Wing. While more on the pricey side (think fine dining in a major U.S. City costs) it's a magical spot for an unforgettable dinner.
For those on the go, Disney's parks offer inspired quick-service options. We've visited a lot of theme parks, but my favorite quick service meal ever was actually some Szechuan Noodles at Tiffins Restaurant in Animal Kingdom. After an exhausting day adventuring, we didn't have it in us to make it to a full dinner, and it was peaceful, beautiful location and the food was delicious. Another popular spot in Animal Kingdom is the Flame Tree Barbecue, where visitors can savor flavorful BBQ dishes while surrounded by the park's lush landscaping.
Of course, no Disney dining recommendation would be complete without calling out the amazing food at EPCOT - where there are more than 120 restaurants to choose from! And that's not counting pop ups during food and wine festivals! While many are quick service, there are amazing sit down options in nearly all of the countries in EPCOT World Showcase.
Make the Most Of Snacks and Meals at Disney World
Usually, maximizing your experience with snacks and meals at Disney World requires thoughtful planning and consideration. It's another reason Trisha Travels can be a great resource for you - with recommendations across all the parks. Trisha can help you consider effective strategies is to align your meal times with show schedules and attractions.
Another key aspect is to consider your snack-carrying options. Disney parks generally allow guests to bring their snacks into the parks, which can help manage hunger between meals, especially for families with children. Consider packing portable snacks (granola / protein bars, trail mix, or fruit). These can be lifesavers during busy park days, especially when appetites strike before meal times. Additionally, take note of designated eating areas in the parks, where you can enjoy your snacks comfortably while resting.
For families looking to optimize their budget, leveraging Disney's meal plans can be a worthwhile investment. And for 2026 bookings, kids eat free when you purchase a dining plan, as part of your package! With various meal plan options available, families can tailor their dining experiences to fit their preferences and budgets, allowing for flexibility in meal selections. Meal plans can also provide the convenience of purchasing meals ahead of time, thus easing the stress of in-park dining.
Finally, be sure to take advantage of popular food festivals or seasonal offerings that occur throughout the year. Events such as the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival or seasonal celebrations offer limited-time snacks and meals that highlight diverse flavors and cuisines. These unique culinary experiences provide an exciting opportunity to sample food and drink options that may not be available at other times of the year. By incorporating these tips, your dining experiences at Disney World can become memorable highlights of your visit.
